Cultural differences in EHS

Today, globalisation is bringing us together, but the cultural differences have a big impact on the EHS perspective, together with individuals’  personality.

Just have a look below at the two pictures below.
The first picture shows Romanian workers that wear no safety helmets, no harnesses and safety clothes on the construction site.
The second picture shows American workers that wear helmets, harnesses and other safety equipments.
I know that there are companies in all countries that enforce the safety rules and some of them don’t. The purpose of this comparison is not to denigrate but too easily highlight the impact of culture in EHS.
Even inside the same nation team, you may still have variations based on individuals personalities and theirs aversion to risks.
So in order to implement a EHS policy that will generate positive results, the company shall remember to take into account the cultural differences and personality of individuals especially in teams where you have mixed nationalities.
The same Safety related examples can be applied to Environmental and Health.
A way to find out your team profile is through the tool Find your EHS level.
